Moderna museet
14th May-9th Oct
The artists likes to elaborate with spaces, (she started her career as a architect). She is interested in new perspective and to create new ideas. At Moderna Museum she has blocked the normal entrance into the gallery of the museum, with her art. Instead the public has to take the fire entrance to enter.
Unheimlich Manoeuver, 2007
Artist packs her apartment and “store it in Moderna Museet” as she left for NY. The artpiece now travels to different citys.
Poster Painting
Artist tore down commercial posters on the street and left the message where they used to hang, “U try me”. This word has another meaning in Swedish, “Utrymme”, which means spaces. After stealing the poster she used glue and paint to create what you can see in the gallery.
This spring Lidén was on the cover of the renowned contemporary art bible Artforum. The issue also contained a ten paged article about her.
Paralyzed, 2003. One of her most famous film. The artist is going crazy on a subway in Stockholm.
The picture above depict a scene from one of three movies that is included in an artpiece. Each movie is from different loctations; Stockholm/NY/Berlin. The artist is moving garbage around, observing the fact that garbage is viewed in different ways depending on where they are placed to the eye. Amazing music; Dana’s Hill, Twen T4.
Artist is distroying her bike in a violent way, a power game. The fun cirkus-music make a scary contrast. Some label this work of art as terrifying others as joyful.
The Last Newspaper
In Exhibition, Museum on October 18, 2010 at 12:23 pmThe New Museum, New York
October 6 – January 9, 2010
The New Museum presents “The Last Newspaper,” a major exhibition inspired by the ways artists approach the news and respond to the stories and images that command the headlines.
Rirkrit Tiravanija, Untitled (the days of this societey is numbered), 2009, acrylic and newspaper on linen
Dash Snow, Untitled, 2006. In this work Dash Snow used the front page of the New York Post and the Daily News to create a suite of images that combine editorial hyperbole, violence, sex, and celebration to chronicle the downfall of Saddam Hussein. Covered in semen and glitter, each page is a response to the hysterical headline and a comment on the brutally transient nature of celebrity.
Organizations and artist groups have been invited to inhabit spaces within the museum’s galleries, such as Jacob Fabricius/Old News (Swedish), Center For Urban Pedagogy, and Latitudes.
Adrian Piper, Vanilla Nightmares #9, charcoal, oil crayon on newspaper.
A weekly newspaper reports on the events and discussions that take place throughout the galleries during the run of the exhibition. This publication will be used instead of an exhibition catalogue.
